Oregon Black Pioneers

A vibrant site for an organization doing meaningful work

Their Good in the World

The Oregon Black Pioneers have been raising awareness about the earliest black settlers in the West since the organization’s inception in 1993.

Today, they host events, display informational exhibits at various locations throughout Oregon, and have bountiful educational materials on their website to raise awareness about these historical figures.

Educational, with a twist

Oregon Black Pioneers has so many resources on their site — from their Collections with different media (interviews, photographs, and original newspapers) to their Projects (reenactments & a radio show!), they have found many unique ways to reach their audiences and wanted a site that could effectively demonstrate all of their hard work.

The Idea

We built the Oregon Black Pioneers a custom site with fun & colorful elements to highlight the breadth of the amazing work they do.

The Site

We are proud of our design team and their ability to bring history to life using a uniquely dark yet colorful motif. And we are equally proud of our development team for bringing some complicated features to the forefront of this energetic and playful site.
